Waiting on the big board
The box is made of 5 PCBs: panel (controls + LEDs), wheel (the big wheel), display, pads, and core (the audio brains and all ports). This week I did the bring-up for the panel and pads. To my big relief, they work! 😄
The final PCB, the core board, is ordered. But it’s been a back and forth to get every part placed the right way around. One diode on the wrong side and the board doesn’t power up!
I didn’t want to get into resin printing, so I ordered resin keycap masters from a local shop. I’ll pick them up next week and see if they’re good enough to cast from.
On the software side, the box and the browser emulator now sync both ways: I can start a song on the box, keep working on it in the browser, and send it back.
Next week: bring-up of the boards I have, and the display.
